How to get that party glow

It is easy to focus on our hair and makeup when getting ready for the party season, but your skin and smile should be centre of attention. Here are some easy tips to rev up your regime before the end of year celebrations begin.

After winter, our skin can often appear dull and lacklustre with indoor heating pumping day and night. To achieve a dewy complexion, we literally need to shed our winter skin, exposing the fresh layers underneath. This can sound scary but skin treatment should be gently progressive, never aggressive.

Lactic acid peels are gentle professional treatments that help lift away the dead skin cells, whilst also improving hydration. I love the Aspect Dr Lactobotanical peels and recommend that my clients have around 6 treatments, every two to three weeks to really turn over a new leaf. Afterwards makeup will glide on and your friends will literally envy the skin you are in.

To boost your skin health, a great home skin care regime should include good quality serums to feed and nourish. Every morning, I recommend a vitamin C serum to reduce pigmentation and help brighten your complexion. Before bed, remove all makeup with a great cleanser and then apply a Vitamin A serum to really speed up and regulate skin cell renewal. I love Cosmedix Define, a lush vitamin A serum, which is a perfect before-bed skin booster. Of course it goes without saying that the use of daily sunscreen is vital to prevent your skin from ageing faster than the earth rotates around the sun.

Teeth say a lot about a person, even when your lips are not moving. Small chips and irregular edges put some extra candles on the cake, whilst stains can make teeth look like they are missing entirely. A regular six monthly clean scheduled a month or so before special events is ideal. This gives you and your dentist time to attend to stains, chips and other mishaps. Finally to really elevate your smile to the next level, a take home whitening kit supplied by your dentist is the perfect way to brighten up your smile, and all from the comfort of your home.

So to maintain your youthful zest inside and out, include your skin and smile in your party preparations. That dewy glow and bright smile are just busting to get out and party too.
